Airborne Soldiers

The Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, Ga., celebrates National Airborne Day with a parachute jump demonstration Aug. 14, 2026, at the base, which is the birthplace of Army airborne forces. The observance, established by presidential proclamation in 2002, commemorates the first official Army parachute jump on Aug. 16, 1940.
