U.S. Navy sailors approach a dhow that needs assistance. U.S. Navy sailors assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) underway in the Gulf of Oman use a rigid-hulled inflatable boat to approach a dhow that needs assistance. The sailors boarded the dhow, a lateen-rigged boat, to help local fishermen repair their boat's engine. The Vella Gulf is the flagship for Combined Task Force 151, a multinational task force that detects and combats piracy in and around the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Red Sea.
