The amphibious transport dock ship Pre-Commissioning Unit New York LPD 21 arrives at her home port of Naval Station Norfolk, Va., for the first time Oct. 22, 2009. The ship, the fifth of nine San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ships and the first to be named after a state, was named in remembrance of the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack. The ship has 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel in her bow and is scheduled for commissioning Nov. 7, 2009.
