Bradley D. Hansell
Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security

Mr. Bradley Hansell serves as the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence & Security (USW(I&S)). In this role, he serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of War on intelligence, counterintelligence, and security matters. Mr. Hansell was sworn into the Under Secretary position on July 25, 2025.
Mr. Hansell exercises authority, direction, and control on behalf of the Secretary of War over all intelligence and security organizations in the Department of War (DoW), including the nine DoW components that are members of the Intelligence Community. He also serves as Director of Defense Intelligence and the principal advisor to the Director of National Intelligence on Defense Intelligence matters.
Prior to becoming Under Secretary of War (I&S), Mr. Hansell worked in private equity where he primarily focused on the Aerospace, Defense, and Government Services section. He previously was an Associate Director and Principal with Boston Consulting Group where he helped lead the Public Sector and Aerospace & Defense practices. During the first Trump administration, Mr. Hansell served as a Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director on the National Security Council staff at The White House.
Mr. Hansell is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Officer who commanded Special Forces teams in South America and Afghanistan. He began his military career in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, where he served in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific maritime theaters. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Villanova University and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business where he was a Pat Tillman scholar. His awards include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Meritorious Service Medal.
