On Sept. 2, Dones went hiking on the Eagle Creek Trail in the Columbia River Gorge near Portland, Ore. While on the hike, a forest fire broke out. Dones helped gather a group of hikers who were stranded on the trail with the fire separating them from their way back. Approximately 150 hikers were led to safety aided by Dones.
