Eric J. Geressy

Senior Advisor to the Secretary of War(Strategy)

 

Mr. Eric Geressy is currently the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of War for Strategy. In his last position Mr. Geressy served at the United States Southern Command J-7/9 as the Program Manager for Special Operation Forces and Interagency Integration.

Mr. Geressy was born in Staten Island, New York and enlisted into the Army at the age of seventeen in August 1988 as an Infantrymen. He has held every leadership position as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Infantry units for over 26 years. Mr. Geressy Served at United States Southern Command for 15 years in several positions. After retiring from the U.S Army Mr. Geressy continued to serve as a Department of Defense Contractor, then as a Department of the Army Civilian before being appointed by President Trump as a member of the Senior Executive Service.

Mr. Geressy is a Graduate of the U.S Army Sergeants Major Academy, U.S Army Command and General Staff College Battalion Pre-Command and the Command Sergeant Major Course. Mr. Eric Geressy’s Civilian Education includes an Associate of Arts in General Education, Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Troy University, and a Master of Arts in Intelligence Studies with a concentration on Terrorism from American Military University.

Mr. Geressy served overseas 11 years out of his 26 years of military service. This included three Combat Deployments totaling 38 months of combat in Iraq spanning from 2003-2009. He served with the 3rd Brigade 101st Airborne Division during the Initial Invasion, in Al Hillah, Baghdad, Sinjar, and Mosul. His last combat deployment was in East Rashid, Baghdad during the Surge with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. 

Military Awards and Decorations include the Distinguished Service Cross, Defense Superior Service Medal, Three Bronze Star Medals, Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, Valorous Unit Award, Combat Infantrymen’s Badge, and the Iraq Campaign Medal (5th Award).
