Mr. Tim Dill is the Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. In this role, he serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of War and Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness on all matters related to military and civilian personnel policies, reserve integration, and military community and family policy. He also oversees the Department of War Education Activity and the Defense Commissary Agency.
Earlier in the second Trump Administration, Mr. Dill performed the duties of the Department of the Navy General Counsel, Deputy Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness, and Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.
Prior to his Pentagon service, Mr. Dill served as the National Security Advisor to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), where he managed Sen. Cruz’s military, veterans, and foreign policy portfolios and relationships with military installations across Texas. Before that, he practiced national security-related law at a law firm in Washington, D.C.
An active-duty Army veteran, Mr. Dill served as an Infantry and Special Forces officer in the 82nd Airborne Division and 3rd Special Forces Group, deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, and Mauritania. In his final Army assignment, he served as Detachment Commander of Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (SFODA) 3113.
A native of Akron, Ohio, Mr. Dill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida and a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration (JD/MBA) dual degree from Duke University.
