WEBVTT 00:00.009 --> 00:01.898 Following the impact of hurricane 00:01.898 --> 00:04.009 Milton . This is the largest movement 00:04.009 --> 00:06.176 of air National Guardsmen for domestic 00:06.176 --> 00:08.287 operations for the air personnel . We 00:08.287 --> 00:10.430 have over 900 personnel activated the 00:10.439 --> 00:12.383 possibility of it actually hitting 00:12.383 --> 00:14.899 Tampa and being a category five storm , 00:14.920 --> 00:17.299 we really had to team together and , uh , 00:17.309 --> 00:20.149 dig down deep and , and provide a big 00:20.159 --> 00:22.299 response . We're some of the uh first 00:22.309 --> 00:24.365 ones out clearing the roads with our 00:24.365 --> 00:26.420 rock clearance teams , uh opening up 00:26.420 --> 00:28.476 for the roads for emergency response 00:28.476 --> 00:30.531 vehicles . The army and Air National 00:30.531 --> 00:32.642 Guardsmen worked alongside each other 00:32.642 --> 00:34.976 to perform search and rescue operations , 00:34.976 --> 00:36.698 points of distribution , route 00:36.698 --> 00:38.819 clearance and more . Uh , we're there 00:38.830 --> 00:40.830 for points of distribution which is 00:40.830 --> 00:42.663 critical , uh especially for the 00:42.663 --> 00:44.886 counties and uh neighborhoods that lose 00:44.886 --> 00:47.108 power , uh , to know that they have the 00:47.108 --> 00:49.274 f you know , the mres that we have the 00:49.274 --> 00:51.500 mills ready to eat the water , uh tarps 00:51.509 --> 00:53.869 and , and ice , but also again , being 00:53.880 --> 00:55.991 there to clear the roads to make sure 00:55.991 --> 00:58.324 that folks can move around and you know , 00:58.324 --> 01:00.380 get to places that are open . So for 01:00.380 --> 01:02.419 this mission , we activated up over 01:02.430 --> 01:06.050 6700 soldiers and airmen and uh most of 01:06.059 --> 01:09.050 which almost 6000 , just over 6000 were 01:09.059 --> 01:12.050 Florida guardsmen . So army and air 01:12.059 --> 01:15.709 from Florida , there were 20/20 states 01:15.720 --> 01:18.669 that came to support , uh Florida after 01:18.680 --> 01:21.849 the uh impact of hurricane Milton . Um , 01:21.860 --> 01:24.970 as far away as Alaska . And , um , I 01:24.980 --> 01:27.620 think the number was just over 3000 01:27.629 --> 01:29.779 that had volunteered to come in and 01:29.919 --> 01:32.489 they were either moving uh directly to 01:32.500 --> 01:34.611 the state or en route to the state to 01:34.611 --> 01:36.722 help the army makes us better because 01:36.722 --> 01:38.389 they , they ensure that we're 01:38.389 --> 01:40.611 integrated and we're providing the best 01:40.611 --> 01:42.833 impact we can to the citizens reporting 01:42.833 --> 01:44.944 from the Florida National Guard Joint 01:44.944 --> 01:46.889 Operations Center . This is senior 01:46.889 --> 01:47.389 airman Brooke Kessler .
